Social Development Committee
CURRENT INQUIRIES - CHRONIC DISEASES
On 23rd April 2009 the Legislative Assembly, on the motion of the Leader of the House, resolved:
That the Social Development Committee considers the impact of chronic diseases on Queensland communities and the steps that can be taken to reduce the incidence of chronic disease in our communities.
In undertaking this inquiry, the Committee should consider:
- programs that can help communities embrace healthier lifestyles;
- potential enhancements to service delivery, particularly improvements that foster coordinated approaches and which focus on prevention and early intervention;
- the impact of potential investment in new and innovative research focused on chronic disease prevention; and
- programs that can encourage children and young people to develop and maintain individual responsibility for their own health and well-being throughout their adult lives.
The committee is to report to the Legislative Assembly by 29th January 2010.
